Our Christmas Coffee Gift box includes 2 coffees carefully selected by us to celebrate this festive season. 

1. Los Cuarteles / Red Honey / Costa Rica

Los Cuarteles is the name of the micro mill owned by producer Mario Araya Mora. He established the mill in 2014 as a way to ensure consistency in his coffee production. Mario's whole family is involved in the production of their coffee and his children look set to follow in his footsteps. Mario produces his coffee in an artisanal way and focuses on the honey method of production which has become synonymous with coffee production in Costa Rica. We have been buying coffee from Los Cuarteles since 2021 and we are excited to offer this coffee from their micro-mill again as one of our Christmas coffees!

2. Chelbesa / Washed / Ethiopia 

This Christmas, we are excited to feature a lovely washed coffee from Chelbesa in Ethiopia. Banko Chelbesa is located in Gedeb woreda in southern Ethiopia, within the Gedeo Zone, and is part of the wider Yirgacheffe coffee-growing area. Chelbesa is considered the largest coffee-producing area in Gedeb woreda, with approximately 1,240 hectares under coffee. Nearby villages including Banko Gotiti, Chelchele, and Halo are also known for producing high-quality coffees. 

Growing conditions in the Yirgacheffe area are shaped by very high altitudes and iron-rich, acidic soils, which contribute to the bright and floral cup profile commonly associated with classic Yirgacheffe coffees. Farming practices remain largely traditional, with careful attention to mixed cropping systems and selective cherry harvesting.
