Valentin Carrillo has been involved in the Txo'l Witz project for over 5 years now and is recognized as one of the most important producers in terms of volume of coffee delivered.

Txol Witz project was born 8 years ago in 2013, when interesting coffee samples of San Pedro Necta Huehuetenango region were delivered to Bella Vista Coffee, which aroused interest for its special taste and geographical position. Txol Witz name stems from Mam language (one of the 22 different native languages in Guatemala) which means “between hills” Back in 2013, the project started with 7 small producers growing to 46 producers in 2019.

Producers in this area have two rounds of picking in the season. The coffee is handpicked and sorted by the members of the family who also work at the wet mill and then dried on their own patios. Then the parchment is then taken to Bella Vista dry mill before export.
