Siblings Rosane and Weder Batista inherited their farm from their father in 2015, which at the time produced soy and corn. Rosane’s husband, Ivan, left his job as a car mechanic to help the Batistas in their venture to transform the farm and produce specialty coffee. The beginning was very intense, studying production techniques, fertilization, and soil analysis. The trio built African drying beds, divided their lot, and have taken great care in maintaining the land and soil, which is very rich.
With 5 permanent employees and 40,000 trees, they allow their cherries to mature longer on the tree than many neighboring producers, harvesting in September/October. This produces a much sweeter coffee, as the sugar in the cherries develops naturally as it grows. For being relatively new coffee producers, their coffees have impressed exporters and importers alike.
