Harbegona is a district or “Woreda” in the Sidama region of Ethiopia. This is a relatively new coffee producing area that was previously used to farm other crops including Barley and Corn.
Heleanna Georgalis runs Moplaco Trading and sources coffees to be exported as well as owning their own farm. We have worked closely with Heleanna and have purchased coffee both from her farms and from producers she has direct trade with. Heleanna purchased this coffee from Tadese Yonka Gemeda with whom she has made an agreement to purchase all coffees which score over a certain rating. She then sorts the beans by hand with a team of workers and puts her stamp of approval on each one.
We have purchased this coffee previously and are delighted at the fantastic and consistent cup quality it produces. We think it's a beautiful coffee and decided it would be perfect as one of our two Christmas coffees this year.
We buy this coffee directly from Heleanna Georgalis.
